Selectable Flow Nozzles
Selectable Flow Nozzles possess a manually operated flow control system and rely solely on the nozzle operator observing stream fluctuation and compensating by resorting to an adjustment at the branch. If the nozzle is operating 'blindly' in smoke this fluctuation can only be detected through the 'feel' of the nozzle. Excessive nozzle reaction is dealt with by adjusting the flow selector ring. Any attempt to reduce such reaction by use of the flow control handle will seriously affect the quality of the stream as the ball valve begins to restrict the flow of water.
The water spray 'fog' patterns produced by 'spinning teeth' nozzles are ideally suited to flashover control techniques where a fine range of droplets are suspended in air to enhance fire-gas cooling operations.
