Flashover - The Firefighter's View
There are so many scientific definitions of the generic use of the term
'flashover' that the event itself appears somewhat confusing to the firefighter.
In reality, what should concern the firefighter more is the actions he/she
might take that may (1) cause or; (2) prevent; a 'flashover' related event of
extreme fire behavior. What is really frustrating is the number of times
firefighters have been killed by 'extreme fire behavior' over the past two
decades through their own actions .... or non-actions! If a firefighter dies
through some form of extreme fire behavior in your jurisdiction .... it's 90%
certain there is a 'lack of awareness' - a training issue involved.
If there is one document on flashover that might save your life it's this one
